Gov. Murtala Nyako of Adamawa on Monday swore-in 19 newly elected council chairmen in the state with a call on them to justify the confidence reposed on them by the electorate.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ceremony in Yola came few hours after the chairmen were presented with their certificates of return by the state Independent Electoral Commission.?
Nyako said they needed to understand the enormity of the oath they had taken, urging them to fulfil their promises to the electorate.?
Responding, the Chairman of Yola North Local Government,? Alhaji Ibrahim Njobdi,? expressed gratitude to the electorate for electing them and assured that they would not fail the people.?
Njobdi said as PDP members, the chairmen would cooperate with the state government by complying with the party's manifesto.
The chairmen emerged winners on the platform of PDP in the Saturday's local government election.?
Meanwhile, results of the remaining two local governments, Madagali and Song, are being awaited due to some incidence of violence recorded in the areas.
While that of Madagali is being conducted? on Monday, Song's poll will be held on a new day to be announced.
