Vice President Namadi??Sambo arrived in London on Wednesday?ahead of the 13th meeting of the Honorary International Investors Council.
The ?meeting which takes place?from?Nov. 29th?to?30th,?would feature presentations on investment opportunities in Nigeria to be delivered by the Ministers?of Trade and Investment, Agriculture, Finance and?Petroleum among others.??
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that ?the Council coordinated by Britain's?Baroness?Lynda Chalker, is an?organisation of prominent investors, drawn from various countries around the world who advise governments on economic development issues.
Aside from cooperating with Nigeria to attract foreign direct investments and promoting?a private sector driven economy, the?council is?working in partnership with Nigeria in the fight against?corruption in business transactions.??
In an interview with the Western Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), ?Dr Dalhatu Tafida, the nation's High Commissioner to the UK, said the council's aims?included?assisting countries in Africa to develop their economy.
?Tafida said the council also monitors progress achieved by individual countries through a feedback mechanism.
“what they do is to advise these countries on how to do things properly to attract more investment, and?if you are an investor, they also advise you on where to invest and maximise returns from your investment''. ?
The 12th meeting of the Council was held in Abuja in July this year. (NAN)
