As part of its efforts to improve the telecommunications networks, the Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, has reiterated its determination to improve the telecommunication networks in the country.
NCC’s Director, Public Affairs, Mr. Tony Ojobo, said the commission is going to achieve this through a test the commission is organising for the various service providers in the country.
Speaking on the process of the test, he revealed that the test would be conducted using a process that is called a ‘drive test’.?
According to him, the mobile vehicles will be driven through certain parts of the country where signals from various networks will be picked and analysed. This he said will help to determine the quality of services that are being given by the various network providers.
He said, “Here in Abuja and our zonal offices, we have mobile vehicles used to conduct what we call the drive test. How it works is that our engineers will drive this vehicle through certain parts of the country and as they are driving it, the equipment in that vehicle picks up the signals from various networks which it analyses. This will eventually tell them how these networks which are detected by our vehicles work.
