The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Saturday pleaded with Nigerians to uphold the unity of the country by pursuing the vision of our founding fathers.
Mrs Jonathan made the plea during the annual distribution of food to the less privileged at the State House in Abuja.
“We don’t need to kill or fight one another; that was not the dream of our founding fathers, so we must strive to uphold the unity of our country.
‘“We need to pray hard for a peaceful new year so that our dear country can move forward,’’ she said.
The wife of the president said that people should imbibe the fear of God, saying everything on earth is vanity.
“Naked we come and naked we’ll go. The greatest commandment on earth is love. Let us live in love, no matter our religion.
“Nobody can live forever. We must all meet our creator someday and give account of our sojourn on earth. I love you all.’’
