The 2011 edition of the Star Lager Beer-sponsored nationwide musical tour, Star Trek, will feature some big names in Nigerian mainstream music, including D’Banj, P-Square, MI, Durella, Naeto C, eLDee, Banky W. and many more.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Nigerian Breweries’ Lagos Brewery Bar, Jacco Van Der Linden, the company’s marketing director, revealed that Star Trek, which is the second phase of Star’s triple musical jamboree, will commence on Friday May 27 and run through June 25.
“Star Trek is a music concert tour that showcases the best Nigerian music stars. It is aimed at enlivening the social atmosphere in Nigeria and to demonstrate Star’s core values of fun, brightness, sociability and celebration. As usual, we will be spreading the Star brightness and friendship to different parts of the country,” Mr Van Der Linden said.
He also revealed that “this year’s edition of Star Trek, which will hold from May 27 to June 25, will cover 10 towns. The towns where the music concert will hold are Abuja, Auchi, Asaba, Nnewi, Enugu, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Aba, Lagos and Ondo.” Van Der Linden also announced that since the tour is aimed at helping average consumers connect with their superstars, tickets will be highly subsidised to N200.
Sampson Oloche, a senior brand manager of Star Beer, also promised that, though the relatively low ticket price of the concerts will attract many, an adequate security module has been designed and will be utilised to ensure safety at the events.
“We want to assure those that attend the concerts that their security is paramount. We have taken measures to guard against unsavoury incidences,” he stated.
