The Osun Government on Tuesday in Osogbo awarded contract for the construction of the east bye-pass dual carriage way in Osogbo to Slava Yeditepe Projects Ltd. at N14.7billion
The Special Adviser to Gov. Rauf Aregbesola on Works, Mr Oladepo Amuda, announced this during the signing of an agreement with the contracting firm.
Amuda said the road covered 18 kilometres with three river bridges as well as all the required traffic signs.
According to him, the road will start from an existing round about at Iwo road and terminate at another round about near the township stadium Osogbo.
“The duration is 12 months. There will be no question of abandonment as 40 per cent of the contract sum is to be paid to the contractor to facilitate speedy and good work. There will be no delay in releasing funds to the firm in order to avoid any complaint of funds to execute the project to specifications,” he said.
According to him, compensation has already been paid to people along the axis while precautionary measures have been put in place to preserve underground water and electric cable pipelines.
He said that government would make efforts to improve the well being of the people and ensure the existing infrastructure would not be be vandalised.
Amuda said necessary studies had been done to identify the pipes and cables to ensure that they were not destroyed in the course of the construction.
