Two aged women have been confirmed killed and 30 houses razed on Friday night when suspected gunmen attacked Dakum and Jol villages in Riyom local government area of Plateau State.

The majority leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly and member representing Riyom state constituency, Hon. Daniel Dem, who spoke on the attacks with LEADERSHIP Sunday, decried the recent killings and the burning of houses in various parts of the state.
He described the situation as bad, claiming that the villagers had fled the two communities for safety and were taking shelter in Hoss Primary School and Barkin-Ladi local government area.
Hon Dem said, “We are tired of this kind of events. As I am talking to you, arrangement is being made to mobilise the mobile police personnel to join the Special Task Force (STF) to beef up security in the area. The security agencies should be up and doing to ensure that permanent peace is restored in the area.”
The lawmaker asked the national and state emergency management agencies to visit the affected villages and provide relief materials to those displaced by the gunmen, who burnt their houses.
A shocked Hon. Edem said, “We don’t know what we to do now, an entire village with over 1,000 people has been ransacked, their homes have been burnt by the suspected Fulani gunmen. We really need the attention of the federal government”.
