Kaduna State governor, Mr. Patrick Yakowa, has condemned the bombing of the United Nations building in Abuja on Friday in which many lives were lost.
A statement issued by his media aide, Reuben Buhari, said the governor was gravely saddened by the unnecessary and dastardly attack on the UN headquarters in Abuja.
He said that the governor believed in the competence of the various open channels for dialogue available within the country capable of addressing all perceived grievances, rather than resorting to mindless wasting of lives of innocent people.
“While stressing the oneness of all Nigerians that has been known for years, His Excellency reiterates the fact that we all are one and must continue to co-habit peacefully irrespective of all perceived or imagined differences,” he said.
The goernor was further quoted to have described the bombing of the UN house “as a challenge to our collective determination to holistically fight all forms of terrorist acts in whatever guise that they manifest.”
The governor extended his commiseration to the Nigerian government, the United Nations, members of the international community and the families of all those who sustained injuries or lost their love ones and prayed that God give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Similarly, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) at the weekend described the attack as unfortunate and a confirmation that the country was unsafe.
ACF spokesperson, Anthony Sani, said that the ACF was shocked in the sense that apart from the lives and property destroyed or lost, “the incidence sends the unsavoury signal across the globe that Nigeria is not safe, even for foreigners to do business. The consequences are, therefore, dire for our dear country.”
